Global Centre of Excellence plans supported by Welsh Government

Economy Minister Edwina Hart has announced the Welsh Government is supporting key investment plans by the Hong Kong based Tri-Wall Group to establish a global training centre of excellence at its Monmouth facility.

The Minister made the announcement when she joined Yuji Suzuki, chairman and founder of the Tri-Wall group, in a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the Tri-Wall Europe site on the Wonastow Road Industrial Estate.

Mrs Hart said £150,000 business finance has been offered to secure the £250,000 investment in Wales, which will safeguard twenty jobs and create three new jobs.

The centre will support the development of Tri-Wall’s workforce around the globe and provide high quality accredited training and personal development and become a leading centre for modern manufacturing excellence.

It will also house the global design, innovation and sales management system enabling close cooperation of Tri-Walls’ design and sales team around the world.

The Minister said:

”I am delighted to support plans by Tri-Wall to base their global centre of excellence in Monmouth delivering both on-site and distance learning.

“It will create direct and indirect economic benefits and marks the start of an on-going strong working relationship between the Welsh Government and the Tri-Wall Group with the aim of ensuring Monmouth is a flagship site for the global business group.

“Wales will benefit from the retention of key technical skills in Monmouth and the establishment of facilities to support the growth of the Tri-Wall business.”

The Minister added the Welsh Government is also working with Tri-Wall to support their growth plans both in the domestic and international markets, to secure and create further employment opportunities in Monmouth.

The Welsh Government is working with Tri-Wall Europe to grow export markets and the company is participating in the Welsh Government trade mission to Turkey next month.

The new training centre is seen by Tri-Wall as key to delivering business performance improvements and supporting the growth plans of the group.

The majority of the courses will be delivered by contractors based in Wales, building and design work will be contracted locally, and the majority of the IT equipment (excluding industry specific software) will be purchased locally.
