Getting healthy at Spotlights on Bletchley

Charlotte Wheat, Director of Delivery at Tinder Foundation, visited the Spotlights on Bletchley centre on Tuesday and was impressed with their fab Get online week Digital Health event.

The centre is in Milton Keynes, just a stones throw from the local GP and dental practice, and centre manager Paula and volunteer Linda took full advantage of the prime location to get into the surgery and chat to people there about the health benefits of getting online.

After a morning armed with ‘Let’s get digital’ leaflets, Paula and Linda got the laptops out and began showing people all the health information available on Learn My Way and NHS Choices.

Whilst chatting with people Paula and Linda also collected names and telephone numbers, entering people into a competition to win a tablet device and arranging further digital skills sessions

Back at the centre it was equally as busy with people using the health course and landing page on Learn My Way, creating NHS Choices accounts and personalising their own landing page

Spotlights on Bletchley also have big plans post-Get online week to carry on showing the local community how to use digital skills to benefit their health. They plan to continue working with partners such as health practitioners and local children’s centres, run Baking with Friends sessions (
using UK online centres resources) and plans set up a ‘fit for work’ project to help people who are long term unemployed to improve their health, wellbeing and skills

A brilliant event for Get online week. Thanks to all at Spotlights on Bletchley and Charlotte is already looking forward to her next visit to catch up on all the new projects!
