IfL congratulates re-elected NUS president and vice-president for FE

The Institute for Learning (IfL) congratulates Liam Burns on being re-elected as national president of the National Union of Students (NUS) and Toni Pearce on her re-election as vice-president (further education).

IfL’s chief executive, Toni Fazaeli, said, “Teachers and trainers in further education and skills transform the lives and life chances of millions of learners each year. Excellence for learners is the driving force for their professional practice, and the views of NUS and students help to inform priorities for their professional development. Learners rightly expect their teachers to be up to date in their specialist area, as well as in teaching and training methods, and as the professional body IfL supports teachers’ dual professionalism.

“IfL’s close partnership with NUS is testament to the value that we place on the learner voice. We are very pleased that Toni Pearce will continue to sit as a stakeholder representative on IfL’s advisory council, in her capacity as the NUS vice-president (FE), and look forward to working with her and her colleagues over the coming year. The NUS’ recently launched ‘Charter on Teaching and Learning’ shows that furthering brilliant teaching and learning in our sector is a shared goal.”
