Don’t let your pet become a victim during the heat wave
The reminder comes after reports from across the country this week of the tragic deaths of dogs as a result of being locked in cars.
Mr Gibbens said there were a number of steps people could take to ensure their pets don’t suffer during the heat wave.
These include:
Do not leave pets in vehicles in the heat
- Ensure that your pet has adequate water to drink
- Ensure that your pet has adequate ventilation at all times
- Avoid exercising pets in the heat of the day
- Provide necessary protection from the sun in the hottest part of the day
Mr Gibbens said:
“This is a timely reminder for owners to take necessary precautions to ensure their pets don’t suffer on hot summer days.
“There are simple, easy steps to take that will ensure your pet is happy and healthy throughout the warm weather.
“We’ve already heard tragic stories of dogs dying in parked cars during the heat wave – don’t let yours be the next victim.”
