Register for Scattering Matters 2014

Using large scale science facilities for industrial materials analysis: register for Scattering Matters 2014

Would you like to know more about the techniques used for material analysis and what world-class facilities can offer your business? STFC is collaborating with the Materials Knowledge Transfer Network (Materials KTN) to bring you Scattering Matters – a one day workshop aimed at encouraging the use of UK’s large scale science facilities for materials analysis.

On Wednesday 12th March, experts from the facilities as well as academics will give talks on the scattering techniques used for materials characterisation and an introduction to the facilities that are available, such as the world-class ISIS neutron facility and Diamond Light Source. Taking place at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire, this event will enable you to grow your network and learn about these global centres of excellence and what they can offer your business. There is also the opportunity to:

  • Attend one-to-one clinics with our experts offering scientific advice on specific techniques and how you can utilise them to solve your own materials challenges.
  • Find out more about the funding streams that are currently available for you to access, such as the Collaborative R&D scheme
  • Visit ISIS and Diamond Light Source world-leading facilities for research in physical and life sciences.

Dr Izhar Ul-Haq, Business Development Manager for STFC, said: “Standard analysis techniques often fall short of providing a fuller understanding of the materials being studied. This event about the UK’s large-scale science infrastructure will introduce the attendees to complementary techniques which can characterise materials at the atomic level, and add value to their business by improving in-house processes and supporting new product development.”
