Civil servants’ union welcomes Constitutional Reform and Governance Act

The Constitutional Reform and Governance Act, which received Royal Assent today and puts the Civil Service onto a statutory footing, has been welcomed by the FDA. The FDA is the union for senior managers and professionals in the Civil Service.

Jonathan Baume, FDA General Secretary, said:

"We strongly welcome the enactment of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Bill. With the announcement of the General Election and the dissolution of Parliament, there was a real danger that this important bill could have been lost.

"The FDA has waged a long campaign for this legislation, which puts the civil service and its values onto a statutory footing."
