This Government is committed to becoming the ‘greenest ever’ and has today published ‘An action plan for driving sustainable operations and procurement across government’.

In support of our wider policy goals we need to be leading by example. Defra committed in its Structural Reform Plan to produce an action plan to ensure that Government operations and procurement are sustainable. This action plan will:

• improve transparency by releasing departmental and supplier data;
• build stronger relationships with suppliers to allow Government risk and costs to be managed effectively; and
• deliver greater efficiency allowing Defra to lead across Government and beyond.
