Organisations supporting the NHS must improve screening.

John Baxter, LSN's Assistant Director of Public Services has an opinion piece featured in the Times recently.

John discusses the need for enhanced and uniform procedures for checking standards across the health service, which are vital after locums made critical errors in diagnosis:

“...New employee inductions are a vital, if somewhat formulaic, tool of the HR function. Getting staff on board with the NHS ethos and working practice is critical to maintaining service levels. In the health service, these inductions should always be paired with skills screening, which test locums and clinical staff on their language skills and applicable clinical competencies....Organisations supplying frontline support to the NHS could improve finances and effectiveness by reconsidering a fresh approach to screening and training new staff. “
