The Deputy Minister for Social Services Gwenda Thomas has welcomed the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) Chief Inspector’s annual report for 2010-2011, published Today 20 February.

The report sets out key findings about social care and social services, focussing on quality and improvement and safeguarding people.

The conclusions in the report identify the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Social Services for Wales framework as a driving force for improvements in social services and care.

The Deputy Minister for Social Services and Children said:

“I’ve read the report carefully and recognise the important insights it gives policy-makers and service commissioners as we look to secure the best possible services for those who need them.

“I welcome the way the inspectorate has engaged with people who use services and carers and included their voices in the report.

“I note the emphasis placed on Sustainable Social Services for Wales providing a steer for the future. This is critical and I’m delighted that there’s consensus about this.”
