Speak out for change: public speaking for active citizenship

23 May 2011 11:54 AM

LSN is proud to be delivering a public speaking project for young people with support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

This project aims to develop innovative and replicable methodologies, resources and an accredited qualification, for widening access to public speaking in the context of real-world active citizenship activities. The project intends to provide opportunities for low/under-achieving learners in the 16-19 age group, helping to develop relevant speaking and listening skills and to experience a sense of empowerment and increased self esteem.

Working in partnership with the Speakers Trust and The Foundation for Citizen Arts and eight colleges and work based learning providers, this exciting project will promote inclusivity and enable learners to develop and practice their skills through a blend of relevant and stimulating real world citizenship contexts.
