We'll be documenting the progress of the eight Digital R&D fund pilot projects' experiments in mobile gaming, tickinging, user generated content and more - watch their first video blogs below to get inspired.
Arts Council England, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) launched the a £500,000 Digital R&D Fund for Arts and Culture in 2011 with eight funded projects to use digital technologies to use digital technologies to engage audiences in new ways and to create opportunities for new business models.
The pilot projects are Battersea Arts Centre, Exhibition Road Cultural Group, Imperial War Museum, London Symphony Orchestra, New Art Exchange, Punchdrunk, The Sage Gateshead and Happenstance. Together they are experimenting across six hot topic areas: user-generated content and social media; distribution; mobile, location and games; data; resources; and education and learning. Our aims are to deliver a portfolio of inspiring case study projects backed by quantitative data analysis that will help to inform the priorities for the Arts Council's future investment.

We will be documenting the progress of each of the projects monthly via the project blog
