Lifelong Learning UK has launched a new programme to help lifelong learning providers fill vacancies in subject shortage areas with people with job-related skills and experience looking to start a career in further education.

Pass on Your Skills connects learning providers with people who have qualifications and experience which means they could teach in areas where demand for further education teachers, trainers and assessors is highest, and where current skills gaps have the potential to threaten the sustainability of the industry. Employers who have, or are likely to have, vacancies in priority subject shortage areas can register for Pass on Your Skills for free by visiting http://www.catalystprogramme.org/ or calling 0845 600 4061.

Registration provides access to a talent pool of people with vocational skills who are keen to start a new career in the sector. Providers also receive additional recruitment support and free online advertising for vacancies in priority subject areas.

Lifelong Learning UK will shortly launch a national marketing campaign to attract people with experience in the priority subject areas to join the talent pool.

Alan Clarke, Sector Engagement Manager, Lifelong Learning UK says: "Vocational specialists can help to build on the existing expertise within a lifelong learning organisation by incorporating the insights they've gained over their professional lives to help others take their first or next steps in their career. We are urging providers to adopt this scheme, which facilitates contact between them and individuals who can provide a fresh, valuable, up-to-date perspective on what learners can expect when they enter their chosen industry."
