Winter is coming… Supporting vulnerable citizens during a weather crisis.
During the winter floods, Surrey County Council’s Emergency Management Team had a key role to play alongside the emergency services to help the county’s most vulnerable people by:
• Gathering data about them from multiple sources
• Integrating and validating it, and distributing it to field officials
The main challenges were:
• To deploy infrastructure resources quickly and turn them off without penalty
• GDPR compliance in the field to avoid putting vulnerable peoples’ personal data at risk
