  Independent Testing of a GOV.UK Web-based Application

About the Client
A UK Government Agency approached T&VS to carry out independent testing of a web-based application that they were developing prior to going live.

Background

A T&VS consultant first established and documented the requirements of the test strategy for the application. The test process consisted of the following activities:

• Planning, monitoring and control
• Analysis & Design
• Implementation
• Execution
• Evaluating exit criteria and reporting
• Test closure activities

The T&VS Technical Solution

All functional and non-functional requirements of the application were in scope for testing. The features to be tested were identified and tests were to be conducted for all appropriate user roles and consultation zones with the majority of tests executed with an IE8 browser but a sample executed on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers to verify compatibility.

A T&VS test engineer then prepared test scripts for system functional testing, system integration (end to end) testing, performance testing and security testing. A T&VS engineer worked onsite in close collaboration with the QA Manager and development team for the duration of the project. These test scripts were delivered for the customer’s test engineers to execute. Despite a tight timescale the scripts were delivered to schedule so that the product could meet its launch date.
