ARE YOU MEETING YOUR ORGANISATION’S PUBLIC SECTOR APPRENTICESHIP TARGETS?

Since the launch of the apprenticeship levy in April 2017, with its obligation for all public sector bodies to report data annually and ensure at least 2.3 per cent of their workforce are apprentices, results to date have been mixed.

Whilst the DfE has, somewhat predictably, met and exceeded its own target for recruiting apprentices, only last week, Health Education England Chief Executive Ian Cummings wrote to every NHS Trust, warning that the annual NHS £200 million pot is not being spent fast enough and that, if not used by the March 2021 deadline “this money will be transferred out of the NHS, which would be a disappointing outcome”
