Squibb Demolition celebrated 60 years in the demolition business in 2008. Founded by Harry Squibb in Stepney, east London, the company has come a long way since the removal of rubbish by horse and cart. The modern day Squibb Demolition, whilst still a family business, has moved to recently reconstructed facilities in Barking, owns all its own heavy plant and transport, employs over 160 people and is recognised as one of the leading Demolition Contractors and Asbestos experts in the UK.
Demolition is the removal of a structure and the clearance of its arisings by an environmentally secure method in order to provide for potential further development of the site.
Squibb Demolition are able to assess and determine the quickest, most economical and, of course, safest solution to clients demolition needs, considering all methods of demolition. Some structures may require careful picking apart in order to preserve listed elements or to retain the facades. The same careful consideration will be given to city centre structures, airport terminals, petrochemical works, car manufacturing plants, or a domestic dwelling.
Whilst based in London and an approved contractor for many Local Authorities, Squibb Demolition works nationally with many of the top industrial and commercial corporations, as well as the leading constructors, house builders, property and development companies.
Soft stripping buildings prior to refurbishment and complete decommissioning for rating purposes are included in the Squibb repertoire.
Squibb Demolition are holders of a licence that enables them to work with materials containing asbestos. The company offers a complete identification, removal and disposal service, using their own sealed dedicated containers. Building surveys will be undertaken by Squibb’s own asbestos specialists who will provide a comprehensive identification and action report.
Health and Safety
Demolition is potentially one of the most dangerous and hazardous industrial operations. Squibb Demolition have an exceptional record in looking after their people and the general public because of the management dedication to ensuring that all staff and operatives are appropriately trained to carry out their obligations safely.
Squibb Demolition maintain modern training facilities in a dedicated lecture room at the head office in Barking. Courses for up to 15 people at a time are run using outside lecturers from recognised training sources such as the CITB and St John’s Ambulance. This ensures that the workforce has all of the necessary skills to carry out their tasks correctly and safely, and are holders of all necessary training certificates.
Demonstrating their dedication to their employees, Squibb Demolition received the “Investor in People” Award from Paul McKenna at a ceremony in London in Spring 2001.
The company has recently opened a new office in Dubai and is actively looking to develop other markets in the Demolition industry.
