SERVICES
The ability to carry out inspection and gain information without risk or hazard to the occupants, without damage to the fabric and without closing down production is achieved by selecting from a range of instrumental techniques available to probe and interrogate the interior of structures. Finding the right instrument is always a balance between the information required and the needs and difficulties of the site.
The principal methodologies used are systems based electro-magnetic, acoustic and visual techniques: each of these is used according to the best practices and industry guidelines, but the full benefit comes from cross analysis between methods, correlated with engineering drawings and any other anecdotal or historical information that is available.
GBG is constantly innovating in the application and expansion of these techniques, seeking solutions to seemingly unsurmountable problems to answer the most challenging of engineering questions.
Structural Investigation
GBG Group provide a fully independent materials testing and site investigation consultancy to the civil engineering, building and allied construction industries. GBG specialities range from civil and structural engineering, site investigation, water engineering and the chemistry of building materials; supporting NDT with physical corroboration.
NDT
Non-destructive testing enables built environments to be investigated without the need for disturbance or risk to the inhabitants of a building. No damage is caused to structures and the techniques have a wide range of applications from historic buildings to industrial buildings and from office to retail environments
Measured Building Surveys
GBG also offers Measured Building Survey (MBS), delivering 2D and 3D conventional as-built data by utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Models (BIM) and Finite Element (FE) modelling services. We utilise cutting edge technology in photography and orthophotography to remotely capture the details of a building or structure.
Geotechnics / Geophysics
Integral to all buildings are their foundations and knowing their construction can help determine why structural defects above ground may have occurred. GBG provide geotechnical investigations to determine existing ground conditions and details of structural foundations through trial pits.
Structural Design / Consultancy
GBG provide remediation design for a range of structural defects. Across the Group we can investigate structural and geotechnical defects through various NDT and intrusive techniques to develop an understanding of the issues facing our client. Once the issue is fully understood our engineers can provide design solutions to target defects directly and extend the operational lifespan of structures sustainably.
