Burgess Hodgson LLP is a Kent based accountancy firm with the skills and expertise to rival any other accountancy firm in the UK.

Our 18 Partners and in excess of 150 staff work from offices in Canterbury, Kent, for a portfolio of clients across the UK and beyond, and are dedicated to growth and are committed to providing the best possible service to our clients.

With an excellent reputation for delivering high levels of expertise and client-focused service, we combine the values of a focused local business with the first-class capabilities and excellence of a London-based firm.

Training is one of the cornerstones of Burgess Hodgson: as a firm, you are only as good as the people you employ. We take training very seriously, and operate a proactive training programme, not only for our accountancy trainees but for all our tax, support, and Chartered Secretaries and administration staff as well. We believe in developing our staff and promoting from within.

The universities, college, and numerous schools and academies in Canterbury provide our City with a wealth of talented individuals. We always welcome applications from local people, as well as those from further afield, for any of our current vacancies.

We have an excellent training programme which supports all of our accounting trainees through to becoming qualified. By providing training alongside current work, we feel that staff gain a real all round understanding of the work environment. We’re very proud to say that BPP recommend our training model to other accountants.

We were founded in 1938

Originally Burgess & Burgess, the company was founded in London and only found its present name in 1970 when Len Hodgson became Senior Partner. Back then there were only two partners and approximately 10 staff based in Charing Cross.

In 1976, current Senior Partner Steve Sutton & fellow partners Len Hodgson, Colin Slater and Mrs Marian Youngman moved to Canterbury into 27 New Dover Road. Our current home, although it has changed significantly since then.
