The Angel Hotel & Salthouse Harbour Hotel
The Gough Company is a long established and well-respected family business that now owns three special landmark properties in Suffolk. The family is proud to be celebrating 50 years of running a company dedicated to serving great food and wines and providing some of the best bedrooms in the country. Having established the company with her late husband Mary Gough was proud to receive an MBE for services to the hotel industry in 1990.
Since taking over the running of the hotels Robert and his wife Claire’s love of art and passion for contemporary design have transformed the fabric of each historic building.
Each property was chosen for its own unique character and location, maintaining the illustrious past with deft touches of chic design to create sumptuous surroundings with a relaxed mood and atmosphere. Every wall and curious corner will surprise and delight. The most recent addition to the family portfolio is Suffolk’s famous Southwold Pier. It stretches out across the sea from the bay of the picturesque coastal town of Southwold. They have already put their mark on this iconic structure but the full vision for the addition of a hotel upon this amazing structure has yet to unfold above the waves. When finished, it is sure to be one of the most incredible hotels on the English coast.
