Welcome to Total Eclipse Television
Total Eclipse Television’s team has produced content for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, C5, Disney Channel, SABC, CBC and PBS, but they are equally at home planning live charity events such as Stand Up To Cancer, streaming conferences or producing short films for charities.
The company was created in 2004 by David Mercer, whose previous credits, as a producer for the BBC, include Going Live!, Live and Kicking!, Run the Risk and the RTS Award winning What’s That Noise!. Whilst at Carlton TV he devised and produced Starfinder for ITV – winner of a BAFTA award – won the commission for the Saturday morning show Ministry of Mayhem with the Foundation and, with Jim Henson Television, won ITV’s biggest ever pre-school commission for Mopatop’s Shop (twice nominated for a BAFTA).
Film
In 2005 David entered into a joint venture with composer, Paul K Joyce to produce a version of the Snow Queen for the BBC and CBC Canada. This distinctive adaptation stars Juliet Stevenson (Mona Lisa Smile, Emma), Kenneth Welsh (The Aviator, Twin Peaks) and features the voice of Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation). Powerful performances are set against striking animated backgrounds, with songs and music composed by Paul K Joyce and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The film is a perennial Christmas favourite on both sides of the Atlantic.
Television
Since 2007 David Mercer has executive produced numerous shows for Disney Channel, working with an in-house team for Disney UK and independent producers in Scandinavia, Poland, Turkey and South Africa. The shows have transmitted all across EMEA . Most recently David has been working on Disney Cookabout a series of 26 half hour shows for Disney Channel and the SABC. The show, based on a format that David developed for Disney, is designed to encourage kids to start cooking healthy meals and takes them out and about to find the raw ingredients for their recipes. Disney Cookabout won a SAFTA award in 2017 for Best Children’s Programme and was recently nominated for an International Emmy.
Online
Total Eclipse TV has also created shows for online audiences – such as Little House TV for the Student Channel; First TV, a tv version of the First News – the biggest selling newspaper for schools. Working with Inqb8r TV David Mercer produced coverage of Deadmou5 live at Earls Court and trading as soundvision they have streamed conferences for charities such as the Anaphylaxis Campaign and LAM Action and produced short films and animated sequences for Action for A-T and the European Society of Cardiology. Most recently the soundvision team played a major part in Stand Up To Cancer’s 2018 3 hour live show for YouTube.
What our clients say
“We worked with David and his team on a film project to promote our £1million investment in A-T research. From start to finish, he made the whole process really simple and kept us involved at every step. The final film was exactly as we had hoped and absolutely perfect for our purposes. I would have no hesitation in recommending David for future projects and will certainly be working with him again” Sean Kelly | Chief Executive - Action for A-T
“We’re been very, very pleased to work in collaboration with soundvision, who have done an excellent job in live streaming our conferences. As a consequence we’ve seen twice as many people watching the live stream as actually attend the conferences, which raises awareness of us as an organisation and gives us recordings that we can draw back on” Lynne Regent | Chief Executive Officer - Anaphylaxis Campaign
