Company introduction

Sapphire Balustrades was established in 1992 and now trades from four regional offices. Sapphire provides consistent quality of workmanship and reliable performance, with a complete service including design, fabrication and installation of balustrades and handrails.

Sapphire’s mission is to establish lasting team relationships with customers, specifiers and suppliers by providing balustrades in a reliable, principled and honest manner. Sapphire aim to develop a recognised brand of quality products and systems, which are attractive, fit for purpose, and conform to legislation.

Accreditation

Sapphire is approved to ISO 14001:2004, 9001:2000 and OHSAS 18001:1999.

• Stainless steel

Onyx™ systems are manufactured from satin polished, 304 grade stainless steel. Intensive product development allows for other materials to be combined, including hardwood, coated steel and structural glass. Onyx™ uses special hidden fixings to avoid unsightly welds and fixing plates.

Topaz™ is the external version of Onyx™, in 316 grade stainless steel. It can be finished with a clear powder coating that helps to ensure handrails are not cold to touch.

Pearl™ is a mirror polished alternative, making it highly corrosion resistant and therefore suitable for swimming pool and seafront applications.

Platinum™ systems host the same benefits as the other stainless steel ranges but are enhanced using gold-plated or brass fittings.

• Structural glass

Crystal™ balustrades utilise structural glass to avoid conspicuous balusters, achieving a clean, sharp appearance. Systems can have slotted or offset toprails in a variety of materials and base fixings, including a ‘dry wedge fit system,  which can be powder coated or hidden with trims to match surroundings. (Toprails are available in any of Sapphire’s ranges and can match wall-mounted handrails).

• Hardwood

Natura™ is a range of lacquered hardwood handrails manufactured using hidden fixings, eliminating the need for unsightly corerails, and enabling smooth flowing curves and bends. Most hardwood timbers are available. (Systems can be used to complement any of the other ranges. Naturex™ is a range of wood-effect powder coatings applied to a metal core. The system is offered as a corrosion-resistant alternative to hardwoods and is realistic – even when viewed close up).

• Brass

Ruby™ systems are made from solid brass, which can be bronzed for a antique appearance. Ruby™ is commonly used in listed or antique buildings.

• Powder coated

Opal™ (internal) and Coral™ (External) systems havea high-quality powder coating, applied to a mild or stainless steel core.

(Coral™ is the external version of the Opal™ range manufactured from stainless steel)

The Aluma™ range offers a choice of four systems: (Avon, Camden, Ascot and Windsor). These Aluminium systems finished with a polyester powder coating provides a cost-effective solution for internal and external locations, especially areas subject to high corrosive conditions, such as swimming pools and seafront balconies. Systems are constructed using rectangular section balusters with glass or vertical bar infill panels. Glass systems use hidden fixings rather than conventional glass lugs, giving an uncluttered appearance.

Powder coating gives uniform, smooth flowing surfaces, which can be touched up if required. Sapphire offer unique coatings including wood effects, metallics, anti-bacterial and anti-vandalism coatings.
