Welcome to Viridian Consulting Engineers Ltd – ​Expert Building Services and Sustainability Advice for the Built Environment

Viridian Consulting Engineers Ltd launched in Salford in July 2010, offering expert Engineering Services design solutions and sustainability advice for the built environment.

Now operating from our offices in Central Manchester, Viridian (which is Latin for a shade of green) are keen to assist building managers, developers, contractors and businesses alike in addressing carbon reduction and global climate issues. Our mission is to provide sustainable solutions to reduce energy use and associated carbon footprints and ultimately reducing energy bills for the end user.

Viridian’s Engineers have vast experience in designing user friendly and energy efficient installations to ensure comfort conditions. We use advanced dynamic software packages to calculate energy usage, daylight levels, etc, in order to achieve the optimum design for each installation in terms of user comfort and cost in use, whilst working within the constraints of the agreed budget. VIEW OUR WORK INCLUDING:

Manchester City Council: Viridian has been successful in working on various new build primary school projects for Manchester City Council. These projects all involved the use of pre-cast concrete panel construction, working alongside a number of partnering contractors. Viridian was responsible for the Mechanical and Electrical services design and BREEAM assessments. Completed projects include Claremont Primary School in Moss Side and Charlestown Community Primary School in Blakeley, Cheetham C of E Primary School in Cheetham Hill and Holy Trinity C of E Primary School in Blakeley.

Lancashire County Council: Viridian was involved in the refurbishment of Grade II listed Morecambe Bay C.P. School, Southlands High School Science Block and the new build of Hope High School in Skelmersdale, which is a special school catering for a range of pupils who aged 11 to 16, all of whom have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Loreto High School, Chorlton: For these projects, Viridian Consulting Engineers Ltd was appointed as Independent Commissioning Engineers by Manchester City Council. Our duties included the review of the MEP services detailed design, commissioning management and the review of the Mechanical and Electrical services in respect of quality of installation, compliance with the contract documentation and progress made in line with the agreed construction programme.

Hilbre High School, West Kirby: This new 2 storey steel framed building has been constructed at the rear of the main High School and offers students a purpose built Common Room, catered dining facilities, three fully equipped seminar rooms, a multi-purpose presentation space, which is also designated as a silent study area and rest rooms for exclusive use by the Sixth Form pupils.

Calderstones School, Liverpool: This project involved of the demolition of an existing entrance canopy and the construction of a new single storey teaching block to include staff room and exam hall for 280 pupils. The extension was constructed with steel frame, traditional brickwork and in-situ concrete slab. The existing services installations were retained and extended where ever feasible.

Blackpool And The Fylde College: This new facility at the Bispham Campus provides cutting edge, learning environments that represents a centre of excellence for advanced engineering, technology and energy solutions, providing state-of-the-art technology including industry standard CNC (computerised numerical control) machines, CAD-CAM, industry quality centre lathes and milling machines.
