Our Process

Prototyping & Innovation

As part of GB Innomech’s structured approach to projects prototypes can be used to prove proof of principle and design concepts when analysing and mitigating risks. On smaller test rig applications this may well involve producing the entire device, or for larger machines specific functions can be tested in isolation at an early stage to test viability and influence the final design of both the product and the automation.

Custom Design & Simulation

Changing the specification or operation of a machine after it has been built can be costly and time consuming.

GB Innomech utilises 3D CAD and simulation software so that designs can be visualised, simulated and reviewed at the concept stage reducing the risk of costly later alterations. Simulation also has the advantage that software can be written in advance, reducing lead times and again raising potential issues early in the process.

Procurement & Build

Innomech’s document management system allows the Bill of materials to be referenced with our trusted supplier order numbers and internal part numbers, which are in turn referenced to the final build document permitting traceability to component level.

All machines are built within the Innovation centre, the company’s award winning purpose built 60,000 square feet carbon neutral facility.

Find information relating to the Innovation Centre here.

Integration & Testing

Whether a machine has minimal control components or is a large integrated complex machine, the safety aspects, functionality and recovery aspects all have to be thoroughly tested against safety, specifications and failure effect documents. Sub systems can be tested in isolation, but also need to be tested as an integral part of the machine. GB Innomech can produce the required documentation for system tests, safety tests and functional tests and test the machine ensuring that the machine attains the required specifications and standards.

Validation

For many Industries Validation and verification are now key parts of any project deliverable.

Innomech can provide a full validation service based on over 20 years experience from delivering projects to the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry.

Innomech’s quality management system, based on Gamp 5 and ASTM E2500, provides revisioned documents, component traceabilty and conformance certification. In addition Innomech can also produce Installation and Operation Qualification (IQ/OQ) documentation as well as Gauge R&R and other relevant studies to facilitate the project implementation.

On-site Support

We know that for most customers, the delivery of the machine is just the beginning of an integration, training and validation process. As well as providing the necessary documentation, our team can also provide onsite assistance during these early stages.

If for any reason the machine needs to be altered or updated after delivery, Innomech can also provide remote assistance for software updates, onsite assistance for more involved alterations, as well as providing all the relevant documentation for revalidation and revisioned updated specifications.

A tailored support package for third party equipment, including customer and spares support, can be provided by our sister company Nexus-IE.

Awards

In addition to our certification of the ISO 9001:2008 standard we are proud to have received a number of awards in recent years demonstrating our successful business growth and commitment to the environment.

In 2009 we were pleased to announce that we received The Queen’s Award for Enterprise  in the international trade category in recognition of soaring export sales. Over 76% of our total sales were overseas, an increase of 69% over 2006. For more information on this prestigious award go to www.queensawards.org.uk

In 2004 we were a National Gold Winner in the National Green Apple awards.  This was awarded to the Company for the design and build of an environmentally friendly manufacturing building; the Innovation Centre. We also received a major commendation in the British Commitment to the Environment (BCE) awards for the same project. We use this network to ensure our knowledge of business sectors and cutting edge engineering solutions are kept up to date through affiliations such as The Cambridge NetworkOne Nucleus (formerly The Eastern Region Biotech Initiative (ERBI)), and Cambridge University Institute for Manufacturing.

This knowledge network also gives us the ability to use, from time to time, specialists in processes or technologies that individual projects may require, but where a full time resource is not justified. This enables a very cost effective approach to supplying highly innovative automation solutions.

Working with GB Innomech will enable you to obtain any specialist knowledge your project requires.
