Leadership, Management & Professional Development
![]() |
Developing your leaders, managers and team members is an essential investment for all organisations. Whilst there is a place for ‘off-the-shelf’ group training, it takes a tailored approach to ensure you get the best from your people. As a Barrister-turned-Speaker, Trainer, Executive Coach Scott Johnston has delivered training to the Civil Service, Local Government, large corporates and small businesses for 20 years. He has delivered training and coaching to leaders, managers professionals and young professionals with an engaging, interactive and inspiring approach – together with robust, supportive challenge when required. |
Barrister-turned-Speaker, Trainer, Executive Coach
Scott Johnston qualified as a Barrister in 1990 and has latterly specialised in Employment Law and HR including Bullying and Harassment, investigations and mediation.
As an ‘escaping’ lawyer – not yet having fully ‘escaped’ the law – he has immersed himself in the world of personal and professional development for over 20 years. He was National President for Scotland in not one but two global networks, with a focus on developing young professionals and professional speakers.
Whilst he continues to offer HR training and support, he is primarily providing training and coaching on bringing the skills of the legal world into your business world.

Workplace investigations are the essential foundation to effective decision-making in your formal internal process. They can be challenging, stressful and help you defend any Employment Tribunal claim – if conducted professionally. As well as providing training on investigations, decisions and appeal, Scott undertakes workplace investigations when you need an independent expert investigator to gather evidence and present coherent conclusions as the basis to your decisions. |
Mediation is not a magic wand – but it might feel like it. It demands a delicate balance of questioning, facilitating and challenging without compromising the prospect of an agreed outcome. As well as providing training on how to mediate, Scott can conduct mediations for you when you need an independent expert mediator to help employees resolve challenges and disputes, ideally without the need to follow a formal investigation and decision procedure. |
