Over 23,700 children and young people aged 3-18 have their say

For many of us, school was the time of our lives. It’s the time when we’re most socially active - surrounded by friends every day with no responsibilities or distractions.

But in March 2020, that care-free existence was taken away from children and young people across the UK.

Young people’s education and social lives were severely disrupted.

How did they feel about it? What affect was it having? How was their mental health? Was online education doing its job?

That’s where the Coronavirus and Me survey came in – envisioned by the Children’s Commissioner for Wales and created by Snap Surveys.

Snap Surveys is a leader in survey software and research projects since 1981, based in Bristol.

The survey at a glance:

• A total of 23,719 children and young people (aged 3-18) participated in the project and shared their views.
• The Snap Surveys Projects team used interactive online surveys (imagery, audio, video etc.) to obtain responses from all children – regardless of any disabilities they might have.
• 72% of children were concerned with not being able to see friends.
• 51% were worried about exams being cancelled.

Driving Wales’ Covid strategy: The survey results were considered by the Welsh government when forming their Covid-19 strategies throughout the pandemic.
