APM supports project community at first NHS Project Futures Festival

An event on delivering projects and programmes within the NHS featured a well-received contributions from Association for Project Management (APM).

The NHS Project Futures Festival was a five-day event with speakers including esteemed healthcare experts, business leaders and senior project professionals. It provided an opportunity for project practitioners in the NHS to learn about the values, behaviours and capabilities needed to deliver successful change. It also enabled delegates to connect with leaders in their field, learn about the latest innovations, network and explore new resources.

Among the presenters were APM representatives Satbir West, partnership development manager, who discussed the benefits of APM Corporate Partnership; and Caspar Bartington, head of volunteer and education engagement.

Caspar spoke alongside Mike Gray, Health Education England Portfolio Capability and Resourcing Manager, about how membership of APM can support project professionals – particularly those undertaking an apprenticeship or who are new to the project work.

Speaking after the event, Caspar yesterday said:

“The past 12 months have highlighted the vital nature of project work in the NHS. As the profession matures, project leaders will establish themselves as an ever-more essential part of their organisations and there will be an opportunity for project managers to have a wider influence. People in the early stages of their careers will be well-place to take advantage of this evolution.

“For us, participating in this event was an opportunity to engage with the project leaders of tomorrow and hopefully to help guide them on their career journey that will benefit individuals and communities who rely on the NHS across the country.”
