Appointment of two Independent Members of the Board of Community Health Councils

Health Minister Vaughan Gething has announced the appointment of two Independent Members of the Board of Community Health Councils (CHCs).

Sarah Finnegan-Dehn has been appointed from 01 October 2019 and Meri Huws will be appointed from 01 April 2020.

CHCs act as the public voice in letting health services know what people want and how things can be improved.

There are seven CHCs in Wales. The Board of CHCs represents the voice of patients and the public at a national level. It sets out the national standards CHCs must meet, provides advice, guidance and support and is also responsible for monitoring and managing their performance.

Mr Gething yesterday said:

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah and Meri as the Independent Members of the Board of Community Health Councils. Their knowledge and experience will help them play an important role in giving patients a voice in the running of our health service. I wish them all the best in their new roles.
