Atos opinion paper sets out strategy for cloud adoption

On 10 September Atos announced the release of their latest opinion paper, Digital Vision: Cloud – Getting clear on cloud strategy.

This opinion paper details over thirteen insights from industry leaders, including techUK’s Associate Director, Technology and Innovation, Sue Daley, who discusses the importance of deepening and widening the use of cloud in the UK public sector.

This paper sets out how to design the right roadmap for moving to cloud, highlighting that this requires careful consideration of business objectives, business buy-in, data requirements and appetite for change. The report highlights four key topics for consideration: cloud models, legacy infrastructure, security and strategic planning needed for cloud-enabled business services across both the public and private sectors.

Sustainable cloud adoption is also explored, where cloud computing could offer some businesses significant opportunity to decarbonise by leveraging net zero carbon IT services and data centre operations. Cloud computing and climate change is a crucial issue that techUK has also addressed in this discussion paper outlining the need for greater transparency in attributing carbon to cloud services. We will be continuing the conversation on the 1st October in the online webinar: How do we build a sustainable cloud?
