Attack on Manchester Arena

Following the terrorist attack in Manchester on Monday evening, the UK state of alert has been raised to Critical.

This means the independent Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has assessed that, not only does an attack remain highly likely, a further attack may be imminent.

Additional resources and support will be made available to the police as they work to keep us all safe for example you might also see military personnel deployed at certain events such as concerts and sporting fixtures.

NCA officers continue to stand together with those affected by the terrorist attack at Manchester Arena.

Director General Lynne Owens said her thoughts were with the victims, the loved ones of those who were killed, and the many left injured as a result of the explosion.

She praised the courage of police officers and other blue light services who responded so quickly and who have been on duty throughout the early hours of this morning. The NCA is providing specialist support and will continue to offer every assistance in responding to the incident.

During this time we would encourage you to remain calm but alert; if you see any suspicious activity or something out of place please call 999. Visit www.gov.uk/act for more information on how cooperation between public and police can help prevent a terrorist act.
