BTP officers charged with assault after Derby rail station arrests

Two British Transport Police constables are due to appear in court tomorrow (Tuesday 15 January) charged with common assault following an incident at Derby Railway Station.

The charges against PC Andrew Spiby and PC John Severns were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service following our investigation into the force used when two men were arrested on 28 May last year. During the incident a Taser was discharged and incapacitant spray used by police.

The officers are due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court.
