Ian Price, CBI Wales Director, said:

“Business in Wales wants a strong and resilient economy and Plaid Cymru’s commitment to this is welcomed, so too is the pledge to ensure Wales can continue to buy and sell to continental Europe without ‘costly barriers’.

“Business welcome the proposals to ‘make ultra-fast broadband available to all of Wales’ and roll out 5G nationwide. Digital connectivity is key to Wales’ economic future.

“But firms would not welcome proposals to devolve corporation tax, Air Passenger Duty and VAT to Wales. More time should be given to the Welsh Government to prove it can effectively administer the new taxes set to be devolved from April 2018 and April 2019. Should this proposal go forward, it should be subject to an independent economic analysis and any final decision should be based on what is in the best interests of the Welsh economy and its people.”
