CBI NI responds to A-Level results day

CBI NI yesterday responded to A-Level results day.

Angela McGowan, CBI Northern Ireland Director, yesterday said:

“Congratulations to all students getting their results today. It’s been a tough year for young people who’ve experienced high levels of disruption.  This shouldn’t detract from their years of hard work and determination.

“Many students will now be looking forward to higher and further education.  Universities and colleges have provided assurances that a level of flexibility will be deployed for students seeking to appeal their grades, given the unprecedented times.

“Other pupils will be preparing themselves for apprenticeships and other vocational options. Either way, it is important to remember that there is more than one path to a successful and rewarding career.  A person’s talent can be unlocked through a wide variety of routes.

“Regardless of whether people get the results they hoped for or not, it is important for young people to know that in the world of work, grades are put firmly in perspective.  Employers believe that attitude and aptitude are as important as formal qualifications when it comes to hiring.”
