CBI Wales responds to latest relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions

CBI Wales yesterday responded to latest relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions.

Ian Price, CBI Wales Director, yesterday said:

“Further reopening of some of Wales’ hardest-hit sectors comes as a huge relief to business owners that have endured a torrid year of lockdown restrictions. Having lost out on festive trading, hospitality, leisure and non-essential retail firms will be looking to the weeks ahead with greater optimism than for some time.

“Despite these positive moves, we must stay vigilant. Restrictions will continue to disrupt many businesses and a lag in demand will make trading conditions difficult for some time. Government support has provided a lifeline during an unprecedented twelve months, with firms low on cash, confidence and demand, and the additional hospitality funding announced by the Welsh Government is welcome.

“A big effort is needed from both the Welsh and UK governments over the summer to support business and economic recovery across the country.

“As we reduce restrictions further, we must also continue to review social distancing guidance and law to enable economic recovery and build confidence for consumers and employers alike.”
