CBI responds to publication of National Bus Strategy

CBI recently (15 March 2021) responded to publication of National Bus Strategy.

Tom Thackray, CBI Director of Infrastructure, recently said:

“The National Bus Strategy has reinvigorated the case for public investment in greener, better integrated, and more customer-orientated bus services nationwide. Business welcomes the ambitions to drive a significant shift from private car use to bus services, clearing our towns, cities and countryside of congestion.

“Harnessing private sector innovation will be vital for success, with business investment playing a major role in funding the next generation of zero emissions buses.

“If the vision laid out in today’s strategy is to be realised, local and national government must focus on building successful cross-sector partnerships, drawing on the collaboration and agility we have seen by private bus operators in the sector during the pandemic.”
