COVID-19 offers of support to local government

techUK collating repository of offers to support local government response efforts.

Alongside the National Health Service, local government are tirelessly working responding to coronavirus, COVID-19. This is an unprecedented crisis and local government are innovatively looking at ways to support their communities – from volunteering platforms to tackling loneliness and supporting the vulnerable during social isolation and supporting teams for mass remote working. There are added layers that they are addressing on top of the already pressured services such as social care.

techUK with our members are looking to support local government with their COVID-19 response effort. You can see what our members have already been doing to support the NHS and Government here. With the slightly more fragmented nature of local government techUK intends to create a repository of offers that our members can provide, categorizing by ‘challenge,’ and sharing with partners across the wider local government ecosystem.

Some of the initial challenges that have arisen from conversation with councils include:

  • Mass remote working and cyber security
  • Mapping demand coming from contact centres
  • Supply and demand to the most vulnerable
  • Co-ordinating volunteers

If you are a technology supplier and would like to be included in this central repository please email with your 250 word offer.
