Committee to question head of National Audit Office

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee will take evidence from Gareth Davies, Comptroller and Auditor General in the National Audit Office (NAO) on Tuesday 5 May.

Due to limitations on the number of evidence sessions the House of Commons is able to broadcast during Covid-19, this session will be held in private. A detailed note of the meeting will be published shortly after.

The session will examine the Government’s performance in managing major projects, and the NAO’s role in providing oversight. It will ask why major projects have such a poor track record in providing value for money, or meeting predicted timescales and costs. The Committee will also consider what cultural changes within project development and management processes could improve performance.

In Mr Davies’ first appearance before the Committee, he is also likely to answer questions on his priorities in the role as well as how the National Audit Office will carry out its duties during the Covid-19 crisis.
