Communication to Industry – Update on DEFNET

An update from the Ministry of Defence on the future of industry access to the Defence Intranet (DEFNET).

Following our previous communications in June. The DEFNET project team would like to provide an update on the status of the DEFNET project which will be delivering access to DEFNET for our MoD Disadvantaged & Industry Partner User Communities due to the closure of the legacy Defence Intranet.

There has been good progress over recent weeks with access provided to our MOD Cloud Dev environment which will enable our team to develop a proof of concept to test the technical aspects of the solution in preparation for the Alpha Phase. In conjunction with this, we have also stood up our development team and continue to work closely with our colleagues across ISS to define and finalise the encompassing end to end license processes associated with the B2B and E1 License provision for access to DEFNET.

The project was working to a delivery of an Alpha solution in September. However, this has been delayed due to resource availability and the work required to complete the technical detailed design for the solution.

The next phase of Programme Planning is taking place this week, once the project has been formally re-baselined, we will communicate the new date for the Alpha Phase.

Please be assured that the Defence Intranet will continue to be available to our impacted Users until we have provided access to DEFNET.
