Convicted paedophile with horrendous catalogue of abuse images has jail term increased
A part-time DJ jailed for making and selling some of the worst child sexual abuse images NCA investigators have ever seen has had his prison sentence increased to four years.
Haitch Macklin, 38, sold access to his horrendous catalogue to other offenders via an encrypted messaging app from his home in Higher Broughton, Salford, Greater Manchester.
His collection included sexual torture videos of babies and toddlers and Macklin spoke of his desire to acquire ‘snuff’ films showing real-life murders.
He also told another offender that he wanted to murder someone and film it.
He admitted three counts of making indecent images of children (IIOC) and two of showing it at Manchester Crown Court in April [15th] and was initially jailed for 20 months.
But following an appeal by the CPS, which was fully supported by the NCA, today at the Court of Appeal in London, he was given a revised sentence of four years.
NCA operations manager Hazel Stewart said:
“Macklin posed a very real and dangerous threat to children.
“A team of officers viewed, assessed and graded the material Macklin sold access to, which they said was some of the most horrific and disturbing content they’ve ever seen in many years investigating child sexual abuse.
“I’m pleased his sentence has been increased which should signal to other offenders that, together with our partners, we will stop at nothing to track down and imprison those individuals who pose the biggest threat to children.”
