Coronavirus: Template letters for landlords

The NRLA has six template letters exclusive for members to download and send to tenants during the coronavirus pandemic.

The template letters for landlords can be accessed online here and within the Property Management and Financial Support guidance section of our website. They include:

This letter outlines what tenants can expect from landlords at this time in terms of following all the Government guidance. It also outlines the financial support available for tenants at this time, including how to access Universal Credit and useful links for those who are self-employed, and a request for tenants to inform the landlord as soon as they can if either they are self-isolating or need support in another way at this time.

Landlords can send this letter to their tenants to notify them that they are expecting contractors to visit the property on a particular date, either to conduct a gas safety inspection or an electrical safety inspection.

This comes following guidance published recently that states gas safety inspections can go on as they are essential works. This is provided that everyone follows social distancing practices and the inspector, tenants, or landlord are not symptomatic at the time.

The template letter highlights what tenants can expect from the contractor-specifically that they will adhere to social distancing requirements at all times, and also requests tenants inform the landlord as early as possible if they are self-isolating.

Financial support template letters

There are also four more template letters around financial support for tenants, including a letter for tenants requesting a rent holiday, a rent reduction proposal letter and one for students.
