Director General for new Independent Office for Police Conduct announced

In January 2018, the IPCC will become the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and the Home Office announced that Michael Lockwood, currently the Chief Executive of Harrow Council, has been appointed Director General of the IOPC.

Welcoming the announcement Dame Anne Owers, Chair of the IPCC, said:

“I would like to congratulate Michael on his appointment and also welcome confirmation that the IPCC will become the IOPC in January. We have worked alongside the Home Office to shape the future of the organisation since 2015, when we recommended a new structure that would better support our much-expanded organisation. My focus now will be to ensure a smooth transition into that new structure and then to hand over the governance of the organisation to Michael.”
