European Statutory Instruments Committee recommends further debate

Following the Committee’s meeting on Tuesday 5 May, its fourth report of Session 2019-21 has been published.

The report details one proposed negative instrument laid by the Government, recommending that the Alternative Dispute Resolution for Consumer Disputes (Extension of Time Limits for Legal Proceedings) (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 be subject to the affirmative procedure.

The Government can reject or accept recommendations made by the Committee, but has to provide a written statement if it chooses to reject the recommendation to make a statutory instrument affirmative.
