FRC: EFRAG surveys on the impact of new IASB equity/debt proposals

EFRAG (European Financial Reporting Advisory Group) conducts an impact assessment of the new proposals from the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) on how to distinguish between equity and debt in the financial statements. The IASB published its new proposals in June 2018 in the Discussion Paper Financial Instruments with the Characteristics of Equity for consultation.

EFRAG seeks input from preparers of financial statements in accordance with IFRS to understand how the proposals could affect them. EFRAG also requests feedback from users of IFRS financial statements, including financial analysts, asset managers and those working in private equity. The results will inform EFRAG’s response to the IASB’s Discussion Paper.

EFRAG expects that completion of the questionnaire will take 30 mins. The survey can be completed on-line. Deadline for responses is 26 November 2018.

The Financial Reporting Council encourages participation in EFRAG’s impact assessment. Users and preparers who respond can provide valuable insights about the practical implications of the IASB’s proposals.

Please refer to EFRAG’s press notice for further information and links to the questionnaires.
