Former Avon and Somerset PCSO summonsed to face perverting the course of justice charge

A former Avon and Somerset Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) will appear in court later this month to face a charge of perverting the course of justice.

Thomas Rowland, aged 24, has been summonsed to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 15 August 2017.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigated an allegation that the PCSO made a false witness statement that a man had punched him.

Following the investigation, the matter was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The case was reviewed by the CPS which decided that Mr Rowland should be charged with an offence of perverting the course of justice.
