Four ad hoc select committees recommended by the Lords Liaison Committee

The House of Lords Liaison Committee yesterday published its second report of the 2016–17 session, in which it recommends to the House four proposals for new investigative committees in the 2017–18 session. The report will now go to the floor of the House for approval.

Proposals recommended to the House

In the second report of the 2015–16 session, the Liaison Committee announced that they envisage a total of four ad hoc Committees being appointed in the 2017–18 session. The Chairman accordingly invited proposals from members of the House for ad hoc Committees.

The Committee recommends the following proposals to the House for appointment in 2017–18:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Citizenship and Civic Engagement
  • Political Polling and Digital Media
  • Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act (2006) (post-legislative scrutiny)

It is expected that the report will be debated in the House before the Easter recess.
