GCS Campaign of the Month winner August 2021

Congratulations to the Companies House communications team for winning the GCS Campaign of the Month award for their “Become a better director” campaign.

For the: Game changer. Become a better director. For the: Artisan. Become a better director. For the: Big thinkers. Become a better director. For the: Artistry. Become a better director.

When setting up and trading as a limited company, directors need to be aware of their duties to Companies House, as well as legal and financial responsibilities. This campaign aimed to improve awareness, increase engagement, and encourage action-taking among the target audience of new and existing directors.

The team used targeted communications to educate directors, utilising external channels – including GOV.UK, webinars and social media – to amplify messaging. They also successfully delivered a new webinar series in collaboration with key stakeholders.

The campaign accumulated more than 659k total impressions from social media posts; 762k views across 6 newsletters delivered in the duration of the campaign; and an additional 1,000 subscribers for their regular ‘Granicus’ newsletter.

The GCS judges yesterday said:

“This campaign stood out due to the impressive communications understanding it exhibited through its capability to deliver a highly effective low-cost campaign.

The team confidently displayed an in-depth knowledge of suitable channels, developed varying methods of communications to share the content and showed their expertise and awareness of valuable stakeholders and partners.”

Esme Turner, Senior Campaigns Manager in the Companies House communication team, yesterday commented:

“I’m delighted with this news and really proud of the team, whose hard work on this campaign is totally deserving of this recognition.

Using new and innovative ways to reach our audience, in the form of accessible bitesize webinars and interactive learning tools, meant we were able to cater for people’s changing work patterns and lives, and offer continued support for UK business at a challenging time.

Ensuring our campaigns are data driven and based on actionable insight is key for us in achieving effective, strategic outcomes for Companies House.”
