GMP officer due in court on charges of misconduct in public office

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer is due in court following two Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigations.

Police constable (PC) Jonathan Ryan, aged 41, is charged with two counts of misconduct in public office.

We investigated complaints from two women in December 2016 (completed in December 2017) and May 2017 (completed in May 2018), respectively, alleging that he abused his position for sexual purpose following his contact with them while on duty.

On the advice of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) we provided the evidence from both investigations together in May last year, who then made the decision to charge PC Ryan.

He is due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court on 27 August.
