Geovation welcomes new GeoTech and PropTech start-ups
Over the next twelve months, the start-ups will receive a range of support alongside the Geovation team, including geospatial expertise from Ordnance Survey (OS), property expertise from HMLR, and mentorship on business proposals and investor relationships.
The GeoTech businesses accepted onto the Programme:
Visually Impaired People (VIP) – debut product Travel Hands pairs a visually impaired person with a registered volunteer to walk together in the similar direction of their journeys.
Emma.ai – automatically adds travel arrangements directly to your calendar to help people to choose the best route to travel to their destination based on speed, cost and carbon footprint.
ArchEo – uses AI to automatically detect archaeological sites from earth observation data.
The PropTech businesses accepted onto the Programme:
Building Passport – leverages internal geospatial data to create a safer built environment by sharing floor plans with the emergency services.
OneStay – last-minute bidding marketplace for holiday rentals connecting hosts and guests.
Occubly – a platform to automate the resolution of complex issues associated with leasehold property.
Gonzalo Marquesini, founder of RenKap, was accepted on the programme in 2019. His company is bringing an online platform approach to the construction sector to support the public sector, SME’s and offsite manufacturers to deliver high-quality homes at scale.
He yesterday said:
"Since joining the Geovation Accelerator Programme, the business has gone from strength to strength. The support that is available is invaluable and having access to data and Geovation's software development team was vital in our journey. I am so glad I applied for the Programme and I cannot recommend it enough – the new cohorts have an extremely exciting journey ahead!"
The Geovation Accelerator Programme is delivered and funded jointly by Ordnance Survey and HM Land Registry. It has been designed to provide start-ups with specialist help in the aim of helping unlock the hidden value in the nation’s data.
Alex Wrottesley, Head of Geovation, yesterday said:
"Although we are currently going through unprecedented times during Covid-19, we have everything in place for our new cohort to begin the Geovation Accelerator Programme virtually. Our programme offers a founder-friendly environment and is designed to help founders grow their start-ups in a way that suits their needs.
“As well as financial assistance, mentoring and workshops, the Accelerator Programme provides access to a dedicated software development team in house who will work closely with our cohort companies.
“We're looking forward to working with our six new cohorts and I am excited to see what the future holds for them."
