Are you an armchair traveller who would like to spend more time outside, or are you an experienced walker looking for new views of our beautiful and diverse landscape? Ordnance Survey has just released 100 Outstanding British Walks, an inspirational collection of tried and tested routes that take in the best sights England, Scotland and Wales have to offer.
And, it’s more than just a book. With every copy, Ordnance Survey is offering a free 6-month premium subscription to the award-winning OS Maps app. This enables the user to discover more about the area on their desktop, print corresponding maps and the accompanying detailed route descriptions as well as follow the route on their mobile.
The result is a first for Ordnance Survey, bringing together the tangible beauty of print publishing and the stunning yet practical features of OS Maps, ensuring a smooth journey from armchair to the great British outdoors and back again.
100 Outstanding British Walks brings together the finest Pathfinder® Walks in Britain’s National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Scenic Areas, Heritage Coast, National Trails and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Alongside useful and informative introductions to each of the walks, the book is generously illustrated with stunning landscape photography.
Curated by a group of experienced walking guides, the book is packed with a range of information, from historical facts about the area to the best places to spot birds. Organised into seven regions, the walks span a range of distances and vary between leisurely strolls, half-day rambles and more challenging excursions.
OS Maps complements the knowledge gained from the book and provides all the necessary detail to complete each walk. You can access leisure mapping for the whole of Great Britain at different scales. Create, record and discover amazing routes across the whole of Britain, and preview your route in stunning 3D to make the most of your outdoor experiences. Print the maps you need with or without routes and download them to your phone before setting off for offline use. There has never been a better excuse to get outside and explore!
OS Maps is available in both a web version and an app for Android and Apple iOS devices, and one subscription covers all your devices.
