Henry Newman: The EU cherry-picks whenever it is politically convenient. Brexit should be such a time

Open Europe's Henry Newman writes in ConservativeHome that Theresa May's 'Road to Brexit' speech was her most successful yet and criticises the EU for accusing the UK of "cherry picking" in the Brexit negotiations as the EU does so itself when it is politically convenient.

Every time the UK proposes a way forward in the negotiations, it seems that the proposals – whether sensible or not – are met with cries of “cherry-picking” from Brussels and certain European capitals, or otherwise with accusations that this is about having cake and eating it, as if a mutually beneficial agreement was a bad thing.
