Inaugural meeting of Climate Action Fund Advisory Panel

Following the recent launch of the £100m Climate Action Fund, The National Lottery Community Fund has brought together an advisory panel to support and challenge the Fund as it develops the Climate Action Fund.

The meeting takes place as people across the world are joining up through initiatives such as the Global Climate Strikes, World Environmental Health Day on 26 September and as the UK marks Recycling Week (23-28 September).

The Climate Action Fund has a bold ambition to build a network of people and communities to drive change that will ultimately reduce carbon emissions within and beyond these communities. The fund will support people and communities to act, come together so that local action is supported by, and in turn re-enforces, wider change.

The advisory panel is drawn from a wide constituency including young climate activists, academics, funders, community and environmental groups. They will support the National Lottery Community Fund by sharing their experience and expertise, and explore ways to link up and build on what’s already happening.

Dawn Austwick, Chief Executive of The National Lottery Community Fund, yesterday said:

“This is another step forward in our climate action journey at the National Lottery Community Fund. We are delighted to be able to call on talented committed individuals to help us as we build our £100m Climate Action Fund to help communities take action to address the climate emergency and to build community momentum across the UK. Thanks to National Lottery Players we hope to make a sustained contribution to addressing the threat of climate change to communities.”
